See you at Underbara barn: call with the Cobra and win two Barnluren

For the first time we are at a fair. Underbara barn, Stockholmsmässan, 16–18 October. Twelve thousand parents with children under seven walk past, and we want to talk to as many of them as we can about the same thing as always: say no to the mobile, yes to family and friends.

The Cobra Duel

The stand is built around a single question: how do you get a child to drag their parent back? The answer was the Cobra, the Ericofon from 1956. We have two at the stand, connected to our own little telephone network. The child lifts the handset, dials the number of the phone next to it, and hears it ring across the stand.

Every call is a raffle ticket. At 16:00 each day we draw two Barnluren, one for the child and one for a friend, so they can keep calling each other at home. One ticket per child and day, with an adult. That is the whole rulebook.

What we show

Barnluren is a real telephone at home, on a closed network. The child only calls the people the parents have approved, and they answer in a free app on their ordinary mobile. No screen, no internet, no strangers. Friends with a Barnluren call each other for free.

Four retro phones in different colours stand at the stand, among them a GPO 746 with a rotary dial. Since this autumn the adapter understands the dial, so grandma's old Dialog or the Cobra in the basement works as the child's own phone. Bring it along if you want to try.
